NOTHING TO DO WITH CLIPS IN SHEENA BORA CASE: CBI TO HC

- STAFF REPORTER

In a bid to clarify its stand over the ‘leaking’ of ‘audio clips’ pertaining to the high profile murder mystery of Sheena Bora, the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) on Tuesday told a special court that it has nothing to do with the clips.

Bharat Badaami, the special public prosecutor representing CBI, said, “The agency has nothing to do with the audio clips, which were aired on some news channels earlier .... We are nowhere in the picture.”

“We have handed over a copy of all the documents to each accused so it is difficult to say who leaked the clips to media, but it was not the CBI,” Badaami told the special court. This was a clarification in response to the application moved by Peter’s counsel - Mihir Gheewala, who sought directions to the agency to take sufficient steps and prevent the use of all the evidence, documents, witnesses’ statements and material produced by CBI in its chargesheet, by the media.

During the hearing Gheewala moved another application seeking directions to the CBI to rely only on the documents and evidence that the agency has collected yet and submitted before the court in chargesheets. This was said during the opening arguments on framing of charges which is likely to start in the next month. However, the special Judge HS Mahajan posted the matter on October 5 for passing orders over the same. Meanwhile, the special court also extended the judicial custody of Indrani Mukherjee, Peter Mukherjee and Sanjeev Khanna till the next hearing.
