Maratha rally in Dhule
The series of protest marches by Maratha community in various parts of Maharashtra continued on Wednesday as lakhs of people from the Maratha community took part in the silent march in Dhule.The community reiterated their demand of reservations for Marathas in job and education.
The 'Maratha Kranti Morcha' started from Shivaji statue on Prakash Road and ended at the District Collector's office. A fivemember girl delegation submitted a memorandum to the Collector Dilip Pasandharpatte. Like other protest marches in the state, the march was conducted in a disciplined manner and went off peacefully. The dominant Maratha community, which has given many chief ministers to the state, has been holding marches at various cities across the state since August 9.The community has demanded stern action against the culprits of Kopardi rape and murder case, reservations for the community, and a relook at the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
