BPCL to seek PNGRB nod for 2 pipelines worth 30 bln rupees

Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd will seek approval of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board to construct two product pipelines at a total cost of 30 bln rupees, a senior company official told Cogencis. The company plans to construct a pipeline between Vadinar in Gujarat to Indore in Madhya Pradesh, and another from its Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, the official said. BPCL will move petroleum products from its Kochi refinery to Vadinar through coastal route, and from there it intends to transport them to Mangalya, near Indore, through the pipeline, the official said.

The 350-km long Bina-Kanpur pipeline is expected to cost around 10 bln rupees, while the Vadinar-Mangalya pipeline will cost 18-20 bln rupees, the official said, reports Cogencis.

The new pipelines will increase availability of the company's petroleum products in northern markets by 9 mln tn per annum, the official said.

Total sales of petroleum products in Uttar Pradesh will go up by 3 mtpa to 18 mtpa post the commissioning of Bina-Kanpur pipeline, while sales to Madhya Pradesh will rise by 6 mtpa to 13 mtpa.
