Even cops were in tears on knowing this mother’s woes Man, his wife and daughter arrested for assaulting 80-year-old mother for property

In a heart-numbing incident, Mumbai police have arrested accused son, his wife and daughter for brutally assaulting his ageing and ailing mother who is over 80-yearold. The son, Surendra Vaidya (47), had been assaulting his own mother for the last three years over property issue. And the brutal torture was video-graphed by Surendra’s wife Babita and 18-year-old daughter.

The trio have been arrested by DN Nagar police in the wee hours of Thursday. They were produced before Andheri Magistrate court that has sent the Surendra to one day police custody, whereas Babita and her daughter have been sent to Arthur Road jail.The victim has been sent to JJ Hospital for immediate medical care. The incident came to light when one Mumbai-based NGO got the video and approached DN Nagar police that immediately lodged the complaint and booked the trio under relevant sections of IPC.

“The assault was so wild that even police broke into tears,” said Sundari Thakur, president of NGO Women Respect Foundation.

Speaking over how she got the video, Thakur said, “The sensitive video was clicked by the Babita and her daughter, who later sent her bhabhi (sister-in-law) who does not stay with this family. Later, her bhabhi somehow managed to send the video to me and I took immediate action.”

“Babita’s daughter had sent the video to her bhabhi to threaten that they can do worse with them than the old lady,” said Thakur.

At present the old lady is recuperating in JJ Hospital and her mental condition is said to be stable by the doctor.
