A 30-year-old undertrial, Chandrashekar Rampal Yadav, allegedly committed suicide on Friday at around 4.30 pm in the general lockup of Bandra police station by hanging himself using the shirt he was wearing.

He was taken to Bhabha hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. According to the police, the deceased went to the washroom, locked himself inside, took off his shirt, twisted it to make a noose and hanged himself from a pipe inside the washroom.

The deceased hailed from UP’s Muradabad district and he had recently come to Mumbai in search of job. There are several cases registered against him in various police stations of Mumbai.
