7 school girls suffer food poisoning after eating out in city restaurant
A group of seven school-going girls were admitted to VN Desai hospital after they suffered from the bout of food poisoning on Saturday after they celebrated the birthday of one of the victims, Pranali Jadhav (17).
The six others have been identified as Nandini Jadhav (16), Madhuri Pawar (18), Swati Pandey (19), Sukeshni Jadhav (18), Ruchi Jadhav (13) and Sabaa Shaikh (12).
They reportedly ate out in a restaurant and had cake from a bakery Cake Piper in Bandra east after which they started having stomach pain. Till now no case has been registered, as Nirmal Nagar police are waiting for the forensic reports for further line of action. But the RPI party workers forced the management of the restaurant to shut down its shutters after the girls were hospitalised on Saturday night.
“They purchased cake from the bakery and came to nearby restaurant Deviprasad where they cut the cake, had cold drinks and Chinese food. Just after 30 minutes of their birthday celebration, they started shivering and few of them gained temperature,” said the senior inspector, who further added that most of the girls are residents of Teen Bangla area of Khar East.
They were immediately rushed to VN Desai hospital where at present they are recuperating, she said. The hospital authority said the condition of all the girls are stable and may be discharged on Monday.
