GIS fetches intentions of investment worth Rs 5.60 lakh cr
Global Investors Summit (GIS)-2016 not only notched business worth Rs 5.60 lakh crore but it also witnessed announcements of several schemes for industrialists by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on concluding day of the summit here on Sunday.
“We have received a total of 2,628 intentions of investment for a whopping amount of Rs 5.6000 lakh crore during GIS-2016. This despite our denial to ink MoUs during this summit,” said an elated Chouhan while addressing the valedictory function of GIS-2016 at Brilliant Convention Centre.
Chouhan also stated that the government received online applications for land by more than 30 investors in just one day. “Land will be allocated online to the applicants shortly.”
Along with Chouhan, Union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu,
external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union social justice minister Thawar Chand Gehlot, Union environment minister Anil Madhav Dave and heads of leading companies were present during the valedictory function.
Chief Minister said that the government would launch a portal named “invest”. “This portal will monitor execution of investment proposals and provide each and every updates
on the proposals to investor concerned online.”
He said that the government would ease land diversion rules for upcoming education and health facilities in the state and felicitate change of land use on a nominal fee for those wishing to setup IT and non-polluting industries on their own land.
“We don’t want to subject our potential investors to unnecessary delays on land diversion issues,” he said adding, “Services like land diversion, building permission, pollution permissions etc will be brought under Public Service Guarantee Act so that investors get services in time-bound manner.”
For small investors proposing to establish facilities up to Rs 50 crore, a relation manager will be appointed who will ensure that the investor get various government permissions in timebound manner.
The CM stated that the government is making a new and attractive policy for making the state a hub of readymade garments.
“Unavailability of adequate land for infrastructure expansion in cities has promoted us to undertake changes in rules for conferring rights pertaining to transfer of development rights and transit oriented development. This will felicitate vertical development in urban areas in true spirit,” he said.
In small cities, 200 seats multiplexes would be permitted. The CM also stated that a new road to Pithampur would be laid at an outlay of Rs 50 crore.
Chouhan concluded his speech with announcing dates of next GIS. “The next, GIS as per our pervious schedule, is falling in November, 2018. But at that time model code of conduct will be implemented for Assembly elections. So, the next summit will be held in Indore on February 16 and 17, 2019,” a confidant Chouhan said adding that he would be hosting that summit also.
