Fadnavis is a ‘supari broker’, says Cong

- SWAPNIL MISHRA & MOHAMMAD OMAIR

Randeep Surjewala, spokesperson of All India Congress Committee (AICC) called chief minister Devendra Fadnavis ‘Supari Broker’ (who takes contract to attack opponents) on Sunday. He also described the relationship between BJP and Shiv Sena as ‘cunning Shadi dot com’.

While addressing the media at Tilak Bhavan, Surjewala slammed Fadnavis and said for the first time in the history of Maharashtra politics, the chief minister is acting like a ‘Supari Broker’. Surjewala also said the maladministration of the Shiv Sena-Bhartiya Janta Party can be described in three C’s - crumbling infrastructure, crushing public services and collapsing urban development.

Surjewala said, “Both the alliance parties Sena-BJP are bluffing Mumbaikars like they did in Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation. They are like husband and wife who took divorce before election and blamed each other. Looking at their behaviour, their marriage can be best described as cunning Shaadi.com.”

Surjewala stated that Mumbai pays 33 per cent of country’s income tax which is the highest in India. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has an annual budget of Rs 37,052 crore out of which only 26 per cent has been used till now. Though Rs 51,000 crore is in fixed deposits, yet the BJP-Sena misrule has Mumbai bleeding with the sores of conspiratorial malpractices.

Surjewala said, “Transparency for Fadnavis means giving a clean chit to the accused who are involved in corruption.” He questioned if Fadnavis will answer why he protected and shielded Pankaja Munde and Vinod Tawde? What happened to the investigation against Eknath Khadse?

Surjewala hit back at BJP by saying, “Was the morale of jawans not affected when 188 were killed in terror attacks in last 30 months, and when Prime Minister Narendra Modi feasted with Nawaz Sharif.”

He also asked the Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh whether the morale of jawans was not affected when Modi invited "rogue ISI" to investigate the Pathankot terror attack. "Please tell me if the morale of jawans was not affected as BJP-PDP government gave compensation to the kin of dreaded terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir?”

Surjewala accused Fadnavis by saying under his government Mumbai has become a capital of crime where molestation cases have gone up by 77.5 per cent, rape cases increased by 18 per cent and riots across the city have increased by 28 per cent.
