Mass Tree Plantation Drive at VIT

VIT University Chennai Campus was awarded the IGBC Gold Green Campus Award for the Year 2016, the only institution in India to receive it. As Cyclone Vardha uprooted many trees in the campus, clubs of VIT organised ‘Mass Tree Plantation Drive’ earlier this month to regain the green cover of the campus. The drive was initiated by Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder &Chancellor, VIT University and Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Assistant Vice President, VIT University. Dr P. Gunasekaran, Pro Vice Chancellor and the additional registrar, deans, professors and staff members along with over 500 volunteers from various clubs participated and planted over 500 saplings.
