The main accused in a high profile sex racket in Bihar was arrested in Uttarakhand on Tuesday, Bihar Police said.

The Uttarakhand police on Tuesday morning arrested Nikhil Priyadarshi, the main accused in a case filed at Budhanagar police station here by a Dalit girl, daughter of a former minister. Priyadarshini, a businessman, was absconding since his involvement in the racket surfaced last month.

Priyadarshi, who was evading arrest since December last year, was caught by Uttarakhand police at Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh. Senior SP, M Mohsin has informed the Patna police about his arrest, Priyadarshi’s father Krishna Bihari Singh, a retired IAS officer, too was arrested along with Priyadarshi.

Manish Priyadarshi, elder brother of the main accused was arrested by Patna police along with his three friends at Patna airport two days back.

Nikhil also allegedly sexually exploited the daughter of a former Bihar minister.

The daughter of a former Dalit minister had filed an FIR against Priyadarshi and his family members, Brajesh Pandey, vice-president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, alleging that they had repeatedly raped her. Pandey had unsuccessfully contested assembly elections in 2015 from Govindganj constituency in East Champaran district.

Patna police had started investigation against them after registration of FIR on December 23, 2016 and obtained arrest warrants against the main accused and his family members.

The victim’s father, a senior Congress leader was a minister in Bihar and represented a Dalit reserved assembly constituency in Patna district.
