Depressed man ends life in Andheri

MUMBAI: In a shocking incident, a 56-year-old man committed suicide on Tuesday by jumping from the sixth floor of a building in Seven Bungalow in Andheri (west). The incident took place at 1:30 pm. The local residents gathered after hearing the loud thud and took Nitin Dwarkadas Kapur to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.“Kapur was jobless for the last 18 years. Kapur’s family resides in Hyderabad and he was staying here in Mumbai at his sister’s house,” said Mumbai police spokespers­on Ashok Dudhe, who also added that Kapur broke open the lock of the terrace before committing suicide.“Kapur was reeling under depression for the last one and a half years. He was undergoing psychiatri­c treatment in Kokilaben Hospital since February. Nothing was found suspicious,” said Dudhe. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. His family in Hyderabad has been informed. A case of Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered in Versova police station. Girl commits suicide in Borivali east Meanwhile, a 30-year-old girl committed suicide in Borivali east on Monday night at the house of her sister where she had come to celebrate Holi with them. Zonal DCP Kirankumar Chavan said the girl was mentally challenged. She poured kerosene oil on her body and set herself on fire. In the past, she had attempted to commit suicide. ADR is registered in Kasturba police station. Also, a 20-year-boy Prakash Dhokre committed suicide in Dahisar east. In his suicide note he said that ‘no one should be held responsibl­e for the incident’. Besides this one 16-year-old girl killed herself in Laljipada of Kandivali west on March 12.
