BJP slammed on economic survey report

- SWEETY ADIMULAM

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) led government on Friday presented their Economic Survey report for the year 2016-17 in the State Legislative Assembly and Council on Friday wherein Dhananjay Munde Leader of Opposition of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) slammed the Economic Survey.

Munde said, “The Maharashtra state in Industrial Investment, Agricultural production, Education sector, Water Conservation Scheme (Jalyukt Shivar) has come down compared to Gujarat and Karnataka.”

He also alleged, “The BJP led government is fooling the common man. As per the Economic Survey 201617 reports, apart from tur dal other crops and pulses production has come down. It includes rice, wheat, sorghum, cereals, gram, moong which only indicates that the government is giving false slogans about state progress and agricultural sector development but as per the Economic Survey report for the year 2016-17 it shows altogether a different picture.”

In the Economic Survey the state government has not given information regarding the development of the irrigation sector. Munde said, “Though the government sanctioned 100 percent funds to the irrigation department as per their claims, however they have not given details of the fund allotment.”

Munde further remarked “Only in the BJP-Sena government regime the permits given to the business sector have increased. Also around Rs. 1,254 crore loans has been given to them which indicates that the government is for businessmen and not for farmers.”

The Economic Survey states the number of schools have increased but on the other hand, the number of students has been decreasing.

“The BJP government has widely publicised the Make in India and Make in Maharashtra projects in the name of employment generation. But the percentage of people employed has alarmingly decreased by 3 lakhs,” he alleged.
