In a first in the civic body's standing committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, decision on proposals were taken without a Leader of Opposition. The mayor is yet to decide on the name for the leader of opposition.

In the first standing committee meeting since the polls in February, the Bhartiya Janata Party tried to most of the proposals, however, only two out of the 11 proposals were scrapped.

A proposal to procure rice, wheat and bread were tabled but the administration was unaware about the quality of the products because of which it was scrapped.

Manoj Kotak, BJP leader, said, "How can the administration be clueless about a proposal. These proposals are worth crores and the officials are least bothered to have entire knowledge about the proposal." Other members present too backed her demands and asked the officer present to declare the name of the breed and variety of wheat and rice.

Shubhada Gudekar, Sena councilor and Education commitee chairman said, "The BMC should clearly mention as to what brand and breed fo rice and wheat flour does its use."

After going through the tenders it was noticed that the tender does not mention the quality of rice and wheat flour which will be provided by the contractor, thus keeping no check on the quality of grains.
