- STAFF REPORTER

Two youths died when the scooter in which they were travelling was knocked down by a vehicle on Mahindra flyover at Kandivali (East) on Monday night. Both were without helmets.

The victims — Saad Tirandaj and Bilal Ansari —in their early 20s were students of Bandra Rizvi College.

“Such was the impact of the collision that both the victims were tossed in the air before landing on their heads on the different sides of the road,” Samta Nagar police station’s investigating officer, Sachin Bayesh, said.

The police, which arrived at the spot soon after the accident, took both the injured to Sancheti Hospital where Tirandaj was declared brought dead.

Ansari was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit of Kandivali’s Shatabdi hospital where he, too, succumbed to head injuries.

Both of them died of excessive bleeding, since none of the passersby took them to hospital immediately.

Sources said onlookers were busy recording videos and taking pictures from their mobiles.
