AIMIM workers booked for abusing woman

- KAINAZ CHOKSEY

Samajwadi Party member Ayesha Shaikh (28) has filed a complaint with the Vashi police station against seven All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party members for sending her abusive and lewd messages on Facebook and WhatsApp.

A First Information Report has been registered against AIMIM party members Mohsin Muhammad Al Hussaini and Kaleem Mohammed and other unknown persons for insulting the modesty of a woman (509) of IPC on Tuesday.

Shaikh alleged, “I have been receiving life threatening calls on my personal mobile number through seven unknown numbers belonging to AIMIM party volunteers. From February 14 onwards until February 28, Mohsin and Kaleem repeatedly kept abusing me over WhatsApp calls and messages and Facebook .They kept telling me over the phone calls and through Facebook that I have not done the right thing by quitting the party and that they would teach me a lesson. They claimed that a party leader from Hyderabad wanted to have a sexual relation with me.”

Shaikh claimed that after she filed a non-cognisable complaint with the Vashi police on March 20, her troubles further increased.

According to the FIR, “On February 28, Mohsin had sent abusive messages to Shaikh. Kaleem had abetted Shaikh to commit suicide.”

On March 19, Shaikh had approached the Vashi police station to register an FIR. However, a non-cognisable offence was registered by the police. Only after an inquiry was conducted, an FIR was registered by the Vashi police. According to Arunkumar Landge, Senior Police Inspector, Vashi police station, “An FIR has been registered at Vashi police against Mohsin Muhammad Al Hussaini, Kaleem Mohammed and others. The matter is being investigated to take appropriate action against them”.

Shaikh was an active member of AIMIM for the past three years. She was not given the ticket as promised by AIMIM. So, she left the party and joined Samajwadi Party and contested from ward number 94 (Santacruz).
