Man with mephedrone worth Rs 1.36 lakh held

The Thane crime branch unit-1 have seized mephedrone drug, a banned substance, worth Rs 1.35 lakh on Monday night.

The drug, weighing 91 grams, was seized by the police from Uttarshiv market near Bunty hotel at Mumbra-Panvel road.

According to Mukund Hatote, Assistant Commissioner of Police, “We had received the information that on March 27, Mohsin would be coming near Bunty hotel at old Thane-Pune Highway to sell the mephedrone drug. A team of officers was dispatched near Bunty hotel. Khan was arrested in the evening. Khan was found in possession of the drug which was hidden in a plastic bag.”

A First Information Report was registered by the Daighar police station on March 27. Khan has been arrested for possession and selling of narcotic drug or psychotropic substance (Section 8) under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
