Rajesh Bakshi, who on Monday attacked his classmate Ashwini, says his act was not pre-planned and intentional. It was done in a fit of anger. Meanwhile police got six days custody of him from the local court.

On Monday morning, Rajesh Bakshi, had attacked his classmate Ashwini Bodkurvar with sharp knife. Ashwini’s little finger got chopped off in the attack. Police had immediately arrested him. He hails from Haryana where he has completed engineering and has been pursuing MBA from a college in Pune.

AS Kendre, Assistant police inspector, Wakad Police station said, “We have received his custody for six days till April 10. We have begun investigation. He is in bad mental state and not speaking as of now. He has just said that it was not an intentional act and this happened in a fit of anger. It is also possible that his lawyer must have asked him not to speak in details. But we are trying so that he will talk.”

He added, “We got his bag that had many clothes and we suspect that he was planning to run away. But as of now we cannot accuse till we get proofs.” Even Pravin Kumar, father of accused Rajesh Bakshi, rushed to Pune from his native in Haryana on Tuesday morning. He was shocked that his son committed a crime like this.

Meanwhile condition of Aswini has improved and now she can talk and eat. Dr Afreen Soudagar, administrator of Lifepoint Multispeciality Hospital, said, “When she was admitted in the hospital her condition was bad. Both her forearms had multiple injuries and that too with deep cuts. Five doctors team operated on her for ten hours yesterday. Plastic surgery and vascular surgeries performed for ten hours to get her injuries fixed. Unlimited stitches needed to cure her. Fortunately she is in better condition. Now we cannot tell when she will be discharged.”

Her father, who is an MLA from Wani constituency in Yavatmal, expressed satisfaction that her condition was improving.
