Shishuvan rally to enter semifinals
Shishuvan, Matunga pipped Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania, Thane 28-24 to qualify for the boys’ under-14 semifinals, in the Don Bosco Inter-School Basketball tournament, at Don Bosco, Matunga on Thursday.
Auxilium Convent crushed Rajhans Vidyalaya 22-0 to enter the girls’ under-13 semi-finals. Auxilium will play Divine Child, while Cathedral & John Connon will face Bombay Scottish.
In the boys’ under-14 contest where a win for both teams was mandatory to make it to the last four, Singhania squandered the opportunity to snatch victory after leading 19-18 in the third quarter and lost their way in the fourth.
Facing a stiff challenge from Singhania from the word go, Shishuvan led 12-10 in the first quarter of the fast paced encounter and 16-14 at half-time that set the stage for a close finish. Singhania fought back brilliantly in the third quarter until Shishuvan were rewarded for accuracy in the final quarter.
Shishuvan also made it to the boys’ under-16 semi-finals along with Don Bosco ‘A’ following emphatic wins. In the boys’ under-9 semi-finals, Cathedral will take on Vibgyor, while Don Bosco ‘A’ will play Singhania.
