Maha-day in Munich and Stuttgart
PROMOTING STATE Aim of initiative is to promote state tourism in Germany
Munich and Stuttgart in Germany will celebrate Maharashtra day on May 1. The state cultural department and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is planning to promote state tourism during two day celebrations in these cities.
For the first time the Indian Consulate in Germany will organise Maharashtra Day celebrations for two days in Munich and Stuttgart with assistance from MTDC.
Speaking with select media, MTDC’s general manager Swati Kale said MTDC will lend financial support of Rs 7 lakh and also provide publicity material, audio-visual presentation, cultural events and an audiovisual presentation on investment potential in Maharashtra that will be staged on the Indian consulate premises.
Kale further said the idea of holding Maharashtra Day celebrations in the two cities of Germany was conceptualised at the recent Internationale Tourismus-Borse (ITB-German Name) Travel and Tourism trade fair in Berlin in March this year by Indian Counsel General Sugandh Rajaram.
Kale said that during the ITB Berlin event the authorities were pleasantly surprised to find the Maharashtrian community in Berlin staging traditional Maharashtrian cultural events and folk art.
It may be recalled that Stuttgart is already designated as the sister city of Mumbai.
Kale said that on the first day of the two-day event, a film festival of select Marathi films will be held. Traditional Maharashtrian cultural events, folk arts, festivals and photo exhibition of scenic tourist spots in Maharashtra will be held.
On day two of the celebrations an audio-visual presentation will be made on business opportunities in Maharashtra.
Besides this there will be stalls put up displaying variety of traditional art forms of Maharashtra, food festival.
The photo exhibition which will continue on the second day also will showcase the development made by Maharashtra and the tourism potential of Maharashtra.
