The Mumbai crime branch claimed that investigation into arrested cult leader Sunil Sadashiv Kulkarni reveals that he has allegedly cheated several persons promising admission in MBBS course. Police also allege Kulkarni raped victims under false promises and extorted money from them.

Kulkarni was arrested after the FIR was lodged under direction from Bombay High Court. The Additional Metropolitan Magistrate RK Deshpande further remanded him in custody till May 3.

“The police need necessary time to investigate the case, thus Kulkarni is remanded,” ordered Deshpande, additional metropolitan magistrate.

Public Prosecutor Rajendra Surayvanshi told the court that on Friday when the prosecutor arrived in court another parent gave him a letter (on the condition that the names should be withheld) which he submitted to the court. The prosecutor told the court that was a complaint given to the Mumbai Police Commissioner by Kulkarni's victim (a young man).

“There are several cases against Kulkarni in Nagpur, Pune and Delhi. The modus operandi is the same. The FIRs registered say that Kulkarni promised admission in degree course of MBBS and cheated many. The police are verifying the complaints and FIRs with the relevant city police.

“Also, the pen drive seized from the Shifu Sankriti promoter has obscene picture of several victims in it. There are several objectionable videos in it. Kulkarni is not cooperating in the probe thus the police need time to verify,” said Suryavanshi.
