Pune: Thieves chop off woman’s hand

In a shocking incident, a group of thieves stopped a car, attacked the family in the car and chopped off the hand of a women in Dehu road in Pune on Fri.

Mahendra Kalokhe and his wife Rani Kalokhe who stays in Dehu road area were coming to home after finishing a birthday party. A team of four robbers, stopped the car. They asked family in the car to come out of the car. They asked them to handover all the money and belonging that they have. When family refused to give away their belongings, they started to attack them.

First they attacked Rani asking her to give all the gold she was wearing but when Rani refused to give, then they chopped her hand from the wrist. Fortunatel­y, their six-year-old son was in the car escaped from their attack.

Mahendra is a farmer and businessma­n while Rani is a homemaker.

There was nobody on the road to ask for help. Mahendra and Rani then drove down to the Dehu Road police station on their own and told police about the incident. Police first admitted the couple in Adhar Hospital that was nearby and later started the search for the culprits.

Sayaji Patil, police inspector, Dehu Road, Police station, said, “We have taken down report against four unknown people. We are searching them based on descriptio­n given by the couple. We have invoked section of attempt to murder against them. Condition of both of them is stable though they are in intensive care unit.”
