26-yr-old woman alleges placement fraud in Kandivali

- DIWAKAR SHARMA

A 22-year-old girl has submitted a one-page complaint against a Kandivalibased job placement agency, Yash Manpower Solution, which dupes people of lakhs of rupees in the name of giving jobs.

The complaint was submitted in Samta Nagar police station on April 19 but no First Information Report (FIR) has yet been registered.

The victim, Rukhsar Rangrej, resident of Khar Road (east), told FPJ that she received a message regarding a job in business process outsourcing (BPO) call centre in February 2017.

The job placement agency is operational in a plush shopping mall in Kandivali (east) and Rangrej has alleged that many people have been duped of lakhs of rupees like her.

“There was a contact number at the end of the message. I called the number for a job in call centre. They asked me to meet them in Kandivali east. After going through my resume the interviewer Vishwas Singh (26) told me that I have pursued a course in aviation and he can help me get a job of an air hostess,” said Rangrej.

The 26-year-old Singh asked Rangrej to pay them Rs 50,000 at once and then she will get a mail from an international airline regarding date of interview as well as offer letter to join them as air hostess.

Meanwhile, the placement agency had offered her a job for Rs 15,000 a month.

“I was supposed to get the mail on February 20, 2017. So, I issued him (Singh) a Post Dated Cheque (PDC) dated February 21. When I did not get mail from any airlines regarding the job, I visited my bank and asked them to cancel it before it gets encashed,” she said.

Singh and his staff members started harassing her in the office after she cancelled the cheque. Later, somehow, Singh managed to convince her to transfer Rs 50,000 to his bank account through National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT).

“Singh told me that he will manage to get me the job but nothing happened. He later asked me to visit Delhi in-person to face the interview for the job but I refused after smelling a rat. I realised that I have been duped,” she added.

Singh not only threatened but also used foul language at Rangrej when she asked him to return her money.

The senior inspector of Samta Nagar police station, Dilip Yadav, said the matter is under investigation.
