Deepika is not PV Sindhu

The actress said she was never approached for a biopic

-

When news emerged that a biopic is in the works on badminton star Saina Nehwal, there was speculation on whether Deepika Padukone would play the part. But Shraddha Kapoor was finalised for it. Now a movie on P.V. Sindhu is in the making, but Deepika says she has never been approached for any biopic.“I have never been approached for any biopic, to be honest. I do have a background in badminton, but I have never been approached for any biopic,” Deepika, daughter of celebrated badminton player Prakash Padukone, said.

The actress played her bit of badminton before venturing into modelling and films. Meanwhile, Shraddha is honoured to play Saina on screen in a movie directed by Amole Gupte. For the project on Sindhu, no official announcement regarding the lead actress has been made yet by Sonu Sood, who is producing it.

Deepika’s focus is currently on Padmavati, and she is looking forward to her visit to Cannes for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, which she will be attending as the newly appointed global brand ambassador for cosmetic brand.“I am very very excited. I am looking forward to the entire experience of being there and taking it all in,” said the actress, who had last attended the fest in 2010 for another brand. I would happily forget that experience maybe, and start afresh,” quipped Deepika, who doesn’t wish to reveal her two looks for the Cannes red carpet appearance just as yet.

Earlier this week, she stepped out in a white Tommy Hilfiger gown for the Met Gala in a look which didn’t find much appreciation by the international foreign police. But Deepika is not bothered, she says being on the red carpet is all about having fun.

The leggy lass has on several occasions been mistaken for Piryanka Chopra by foreign media. Speaking about this, she says, “To me it’s racist and ignorant. And as a fellow Indian, you (the media) should also be not very happy about. I think just because people have similar skin tones, doesn’t mean they are same people. As people in a place of power that the media has, instead of creating a tabloid piece of out it, people should be educating them further,” the actress said.
