Rs 1,000 cr in a week. That’s Baahubali!

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion did something that no Indian movie has ever done before — it has joined the Rs 1000 crore-club. The movie’s official Twitter handle shared a photo, announcing the movie crossing the gigantic figure at global box office. They captioned the snap, “THANK YOU EVERYONE !!! #1000croreB­aahubali.”

Going by the latest figures, the film has minted Rs 800 crore at the Indian box office and another Rs 200 crore in the overseas market. With this, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has become the first Indian movie to earn Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. Recently, the film’s lead actor Prabhas thanked his fans for making this movie such a big success. S.S. Rajamouli's film collected US $13.1 million in America and beat previous record-holder Dangal’s US $12.4 million haul in the territory.

The film went past the worldwide record of PK at Rs 743 crore in just six days.

Writer K.V. Vijayendra Prasad says they did not expect Baahubali to create history, but at the same time he feels the fun is in making and breaking box office records.

Producer Karan Johar made the news official on Sunday when he took to Twitter to announce that

Baahubali has become the first Indian film to gross Rs 1,000 crore internatio­nally. “The biggest milestone has been reached by the biggest blockbuste­r of Indian cinema !!!! #1000croreB­aahubali@ssrajamoul­i,” wrote Johar, alongside the poster of the film.

Among others, the movie stars Prabhas in the titular role and has Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj in other pivotal roles.
