RPF nabs tout, seizes 37 train tickets worth Rs 87k

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway along with AntiToutin­g team of RPF have arrested a tout from Dombivali on Saturday for booking outstation train tickets illegally.

The officials seized a total number of 37 tickets worth at least Rs 87,000.

The accused have been identified as Vailu Nadar (58) who runs a shop named Angel and Hema Telecom at Thakurwadi area in Dombivali.

“The accused had reportedly booked the tickets in bulk for multiple locations. We are yet to question him further on whether he has any past cases of touting registered against him,” said a senior official from RPF.

The officials also said that Nadar used a software in order to book tickets immediatel­y. The RPF officials have also seized two registers, five railway forms and a computer from the accused, which he used to book the tickets for the passengers.

Nadar has been booked under the Section of 143 of Railway Act for carrying out unauthoris­ed business of procuring and supplying of railway tickets.

On Friday, RPF Andheri registered a case against a 20-year-old man identified as Rajkumar Gupta for issuing rail tickets in an unauthoris­ed manner. He had registered his name as a ticketing agent on Just Dial. The RPF also recovered 24 train tickets amounting to Rs 33,715 and a laptop from him.
