The inaction of Maharashtra police has once again come into light. A 36-yearold accused, booked under serious charges of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act for sexually assaulting a fiveyear-old girl, has not been arrested despite the victim's mother has registered a complaint at Manpada police station in Thane district on April 30, 2017.

The accused Vishal Vyas is roaming scot free even after he uploaded the semi-nude pictures of victim’s mother on social networking site. Neither the Manpada (Thane) police station nor the Sahar (Mumbai) police station booked Vyas for violating the cyber laws despite the woman handed them over several evidences against his misdeed.

Vyas married the girl's mother on April 26, 2016 after she divorced from her first husband. “The Investigating Officer of the case Jayendra Bhoir is on leave. Whenever we call him to know the update he says that he will join on May 10,” said the woman.

In her complaint the woman alleged that Vyas is obsessed with sex. “One day I refused his demand and went to another room along with my daughter to sleep. Past midnight, Vyas entered my room and started sexually abusing my daughter. I suddenly woke up and caught him red-handed,” said the woman.

The woman, at present, is residing with her parents’ house in Andheri (east). Vyas is a security guard in a private company in Thane.

The senior inspector of Manpada police station Gajanan Kabdule said that the matter is under investigation and the concerned officer is searching for Vyas.

“The action in the case will be taken only after I resume my office this week,” Bhoir told the Free Press Journal.

The woman has further accused Vyas of pushing her into flesh trade.

“Vyas has created several fake accounts on Facebook and he has uploaded my semi-nude pictures. He was pushing me into flesh trade to make easy and quick money. When I refused to abide by him, he started harassing me mentally and physically,” she said.

The Manpada police have refused to register the fresh case of ‘marital rape’ against Vyas. “The Manpada police asked me to lodge the case in Sahar police station as I am staying at present under its jurisdiction,” she said.

“When I visited the Sahar police station, they only recorded my statement and asked me to wait till the investigation is completed,” the woman said.

The accused is the second husband of the victim’s mother. He was pushing the woman into flesh trade. When she refused, he started harassing her
