RAJINI MAY TAKE THE POLITICAL PLUNGE, GOD WILLING!

-

Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday kept his fans guessing on his entry into politics saying if it is God’s will, he will step into the arena. He also said if he enters politics, he will be truthful and will not entertain people who want to make money.

“God decides what we have to do in life. Right now, he wants me to be an actor and I’m fulfilling my responsibility. If God willing, I will enter politics tomorrow. If I enter, I will be very truthful and will not entertain people who are in this to make money. I won’t work with such people,” Rajinikanth told his fans at a meetand-greet here.

The 66-year-old star described his brief stint in politics two decades ago as a ‘political accident’. In 1996, during the Tamil Nadu assembly election campaign, Rajinikanth denounced J. Jayalalithaa and her politics. His strong remarks contributed to her defeat.

Rajinikanth also regretted that he had not been able to meet fans as regularly as he wished to.

“I was supposed to meet you all two months ago but had to postpone it to accommodate more fans. So, I cancelled the previous meet-andgreet session. Later, I was supposed to go to Sri Lanka for an event. Again I had to cancel it for various reasons. A lot of media reports followed saying, ‘Rajinikanth doesn’t stick to his decision. He is apprehensive’ and so on” Rajnikanth said.

He said he thought ‘wisely’ before he took a decision. “If you step into the water and later realise that there are crocodiles in it, you shouldn’t brave them and refuse to step out of the water. Such blind courage will take you nowhere,” he said.

He shrugged off allegations that he did ‘certain stunts’ before a film’s release to ensure its success at the box office. “With the blessings of my fans and Tamils intact, I don’t need to do that. My fans are not fools to be deceived by this. A film will succeed only if it is good. Even if you do somersaults, bad content will flunk,” he said.

Addressing a large gathering of his fans, Rajinikanth requested them to refrain from smoking and drinking.

“Take care of your family and children. Don’t waste your life by smoking and drinking. Drinking and smoking not only affects your health but also your decision making ability. I have been affected enough so please take my advice seriously,” he added.

Rajinikanth also confirmed he will commence shooting for his next yetuntitled Tamil project with director Pa. Ranjith from May 28 onwards.
