Man held for stalking journalist in Goregaon

The Goregaon police have arrested one mobile shop owner for sending lewd messages and videos to a woman customer who is working as reporter in a newspaper in Mumbai.

The 23-year-old victim is hailing from Assam and has been staying alone in Mumbai. The accused Imran (28) runs a mobile recharge shop near Goregaon station.

A week ago the victim visited his shop to recharge her mobile phone. On the pretext of recharging her mobile, Imran took her number of the girl and started sending vulgar messages and videos to her.

The victim has told the Goregaon police that Imran had been making innumerabl­e calls to her. However, she had been ignoring his misdeeds.

On Friday, Imran reached her house in Goregaon and misbehaved with her and demanded sexual favours from her whcih she refused. He has threatened her for dire consequenc­es if she dares to reveal the incident to anyone.

The victim did not file any complaint as she was scared of him. But after the incident, her colleagues

with the help of local Bajrang Dal activists, filed a complaint with the Goregaon police station.

The Goregaon police immediatel­y arrested Imran, who has been booked under relevant sections of IPC including molestatio­n. Further investigat­ions are underway.
