Indian beauties Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor have all made their red carpet appearances at the ongoing Cannes film festival. While Ash and Sonam managed to please the fashion police on both the days, Deepika let her fans down

Dippy put her best fashion foot forward in a sheer violet Marchesa gown as she made a head turning debut appearance at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet on Day 1 (above). The actress let her long tresses loose, while opting for bold, dark lips and nails to compliment her attire. A pair of encrusted danglers and a ring complimented her look. After having impressed the fashion police with her Day 1 look, expectations were high for the actress to turn up the glam quotient on Day 2 (left). But, her thigh-high slit Brandon Maxwell green gown was nothing but drab. The plain gown, high hair updo and smokey green eye make-up did nothing to make her stand out on the red carpet. Clearly a failure!
AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan needs no introduction on the red carpet. The beauty queen who has been a regular at the festival made everyone around the world go ‘ahh’ on Day 1 (below) in a Disney-esque ballroom gown by Michael Cinco. The actress who looked every inch a royal princess with untied hair and subtle make-up paired with dark-hued lips. For Day 2 (left), the diva broke fashion rules by wearing red (gown by Ralph & Russo) on the red carpet. A pair of danglers and hue lips only added to the actress’ ethereal beauty. From princess-ey to smoking red hot look, Ash has surely wiped out last year’s purple lip disaster from everyone’s mind!
SONAM KAPOOR
Having courted controversy with yellow feathery outfit in 2015, the actress this year chose to keep it simple, yet regal and stylish, on both the days. On Day 1 (above), Sonam looked more than resplendent in a pink Elie Saab gown and custom-made jewellery. Upping the fashion ante on the second day (left), the fashionista looked regal in a gold Elie Saab gown with a plunging neckline which was cinched at the waist with a sleek gold belt. The actress completed her look with a statement ring from Chopard and a gold clutch. Centre-parted hair, shimmery gold smokey eyes and nude lips complimented her sleek look.
