Seven killed as Bolero rams into truck near Ahmednagar

All seven passengers and the driver of a Bolero jeep died on the spot when the vehicle collided with a truck near Dhangarwad­i off the Ahmednagar-Aurangabad Highway at 2 in the morning on Wednesday.The impact of the collision was such that the Bolero jeep’s bonnet was sucked in till the rear seat while the truck skidded-off the road.

The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled fearing reprisal by villagers of the region.

The Bolero jeep was carrying seven people who were on their way from Yavat village in Daund tehsil of Pune district to Sailani Baba Dargah in Buldhana.

It was locals who rushed to the accident site on hearing the loud noise of the impact and pulled out the passengers from the mangled car. All of them were dead by then.

Police later identified the victims. They were Manohar Rajabhau Gaikwad (45), Ankush Dinkar Nemane (45), Mubaraq Abbas Tamboli (52), Balu Kiran Chavan (50), Swapnil Balu Chavan (17), Gokul Rambhau Gaikwad (40) and Arun Pandurang Shinde.
