-

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear a petition on Monday on a Rajasthan government’s order to the telecom operators on May 9 to remove within a month their cell towers located within 500 metres of the jail premises in lieu of the April 6 directive of the Rajasthan High Court. The vacation Bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and Navin Sinha directed listing of the petition of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) on its senior counsel Gopal Jain’s plea for an early hearing on the ground that the government’s order would otherwise affect over 80 lakh mobile phone users and adversely impact the telecom operators.
