Bihar: Arts topper held for fraud and forgery
Kotwali police on Friday night arrested Ganesh Kumar, topper of Intermediate arts examinations conducted by Bihar School Examination Board. Results were announced on Tuesday. He has been charged with forgery and fraud and his results in both inter and matric examinations were cancelled this evening.
For the second consecutive year, topper of Intermediate arts examination conducted by the Bihar school Examination Board would face prosecution on charges of fraud and forgery.
Bihar School Examination Board chairman, Anand Kishore on Friday evening announced case would be filed against Ganesh Kumar, this year’s Intermediate arts topper as he committed fraud on the board. He also announced examination results of both matriculation and inter of Ganesh has been cancelled. He had appeared as Ganesh Ram in matriculation examination and as Ganesh Kumar in Inter examinations.
Board had declared Ganesh Kumar as arts topper in Intermediate examinations on Tuesday. He had appeared at matriculation examinations in 1993 claiming he was born on November 7,1990.
But, in the Intermediate arts examinations held in March this year, he had shown 1990 as his birth year.
Anand Kishore said board was not at fault, but Ganesh misled the board.
Last year, Intermediate arts topper Ruby Rai was arrested on charges of fraud.She had said she got highest marks in ‘prodigical’ science in place of political science.
Till Friday morning education minister Ashok Chaudhury had defended Ganesh claiming since he came from SC community, media persons were attacking him.
Board chairman said the affiliation granted to the schools from where Ganesh passed matriculation and intermediate examinations was being withdrawn and FIRs would be filed against the management and principals of the two schools.
Examinees are on agitation for the last three days demanding dismissal of the chairman and revision of results of the examinations. A delegation of BJP led by former chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi met the Governor Ramnath Kovind here on Friday and demanded judicial probe into the working of the examination board.
