I.C. United hold Challengers

-

United SA produced a strong second half fight back as they rallied from a 0-2 first half deficit to force a 2-2 draw with Challengers FC in an exciting and keenly contested match of the 2nd Borivali Premier Football League (BPFL), organized by the Borivali Sports Foundation and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi Ground, Borivali (W). Wayne Trinidade and Douglas Soares scored for Challengers, while Christopher Fernandes struck a brace for the United outfit.

The match witnessed a grim battle for supremacy and Challengers drew first blood when striker Wayne Trinidade against the run of play found the back of the net in the 23rd minute. Boosted by that goal, Challengers pressed harder and doubled the lead with Douglas Soares hitting the target in the 27thminute to give his team a healthy 2-0 halftime cushion.

However, after changing sides I.C. United were a transformed lot and they took the fight to their opponents. They created the better chances but had to wait till 62nd minute to taste success when Christopher Fernandes netted the first of his two goals. Eight minutes later, Chistropher was once again in the thick of action scoring the second goal to help I.C. United salvage a honourable draw and a division of points with Challengers.

Earlier, in the opening encounter, last year’s champions, Tigers Sports Foundation and Milan Club shared honours as they played out a tame goalless draw.
