‘Photograph­y source of Uddhav’s income’

For the first time, the Shiv Sena has clarified that photograph­y is the official source of income of party president Uddhav Thackeray.

Meanwhile, all elected representa­tives from Gram Panchayat to parliament and party chief of the Sena will contribute one month’s salary to state treasury as contributi­on for farmers’ loan waiver.

Shiv Sena minister Diwakar Raote on Thursday announced that all peoples’ representa­tives including ministers, MLAs, MPs, corporator­s in various corporatio­ns, members of Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayat will donate a month’s salary towards farmers’ loan waiver as party contributi­on. Sena has 18 MPs and 63 MLAs in the state.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray also decided to contribute Rs 10 lakh for farmer’s loan waiver.

Raote said the party has supported the farmers’ protest and now wanted to contribute to the relief through donation. “Uddhavji had already spent Rs 4.5 crore earned from his photograph­y for farmers through various activities like help for drought-affected or work for water conservati­on work. Now he himself will contribute Rs 10 lakh from his own earnings,” said Raote.

Meanwhile, Maharashtr­a government has urged its employees to contribute a day’s salary to provide financial assistance to families of farmers in suicide-prone regions of the state. The state government has issued a notificati­on in this regard on Thursday.

“We have officials and workers of state government, semi-government, corporatio­ns including IAS and IPS and forest officers to contribute a day’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief fund from July to help families of farmers in suicide-prone regions,” an official source said.

The official said the money will be used provide financial assistance to families of farmers and, also, for education purposes of farmers’ children.

Accident

Mulund police have registered an FIR against an unknown accused for culpable homicide not amounting to murder on Thursday. A 95year-old senior citizen was killed on the spot by a speeding driver on Wednesday evening.

An accident took place on Wednesday evening at 7 near Billeshwar Mahadeo temple at Devi Dayal road at Mulund. An unknown Honda city driver who was speeding heavily at Devi Dayal road rammed into Chandrima alias Shantabai Joshi who was walking on the road. The driver immediatel­y sped away after the accident while Joshi was lying in a pool of blood. Joshi was immediatel­y rushed to Rajawadi hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

A FIR has been registered against the unknown accused for rash driving or riding on a public way (Section 279) and culpable homicide not amounting to murder (Section 304) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 134 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
