INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
Andhra Pradesh
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said yoga will help to keep people healthy and develop concentration to reach their targets. Inaugurating yoga programme at Vijayawada, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, he said people in 177 countries are practicing yoga with the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said yoga will help to relieve people from stress in their routine life. Praising the dance ballet linked with yoga presented by students of IIIT, Nuzvid, Chief Minister said students have knowledge to achieve anything in the world.
The Art of Living
The Art of Living conducted International Yoga Day celebrations in over 40 locations across Mumbai. Thousands of people attended Yoga conducted as per the Ayush protocol. The locations included from society rooftops to corporate houses, with age groups ranging from the young to the old.
Central Railway
D K Sharma, general manager of Central Railway participated in International Yoga Day held at Central Railway Auditorium. Vishal Agarwal, additional general manager; Ashutosh Gangal, senior deputy general manager and other principal heads of departments of central railway, officers and staff participated in the Yoga Day.
IFCI
Sanjeev Kaushik, DMD, IFCI Limited along with senior officers and all staff members of IFCI Ltd participated in a talk on holistic yoga and meditation with the support of experienced Yoga instructors – Avinash Ghasi and Rajeev Dhal from ‘The Art of Living Organization’. This took place at IFCI Tower, New Delhi.
EPFO
A grand programme was organised on the occasion of International Yoga Day at EPFO Head Office, Bhavishya Nidhi Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place. The programme was inaugurated by V P Joy, Central PF Commissioner, EPFO, in which all the officers and staff of EPFO actively participated.The programme was conducted under the guidance of exponent Yogacharya M L Vairagi, where about 26 yogic exercises were performed by all the members as per the Common Yoga Protocol of the AYUSH Ministry.
Central Warehousing Corporation
Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) observed Yoga day at Corporate Office, New Delhi. Harpeet Singh, managing director; V R Gupta, director (finance); SC Mudgerikar, director (MCP), officers and staff of the corporation took part actively. The significance of Yoga and its benefits towards holistic health was highlighted.
Western Railway
International Day of Yoga was celebrated at Western Railway’s headquarters, all six divisions, workshop units, railway colonies and railway institutes. At the headquarter, the event of International Yoga Day was presided over by A K Gupta, general manager, Western Railway. The programme titled ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ consisting of various yoga exercises was performed by officers and staff.
Damodar Valley Corporation
Based on the principle of unity of mind and body and holistic approach to health, third International Yoga Day was observed in all the Projects of DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation) including Headquarter in Kolkata with great zeal and enthusiasm. The session was inaugurated by P K Mukhopadhyay, Member-Secretary, DVC.
Indian Oil Refineries Headquarters
The 3rd edition of the International Day of Yoga was marked by IOCians at Refineries Headquarters, New Delhi, with an hourlong yoga session under the expert guidance of Saurabh Samir from the acclaimed Bihar School of Yoga, Munger. The programme was inaugurated by Vijay Prakash, executive director, in the presence of R C Upadhyay, CGM (A and W), and KK Majumdar, GM (L and D, TPM), RHQ.
Haldia Refinery
International Yoga Day was celebrated at Haldia Refinery Employees’ Club Auditorium recently. The inaugural lamp of the Yoga camp was lit by C K Tiwari, ED, Haldia Refinery in the presence of S K Chakraborty, CGM(T); S K Kundu, CGM(H,S&E); Mohua Basu, GM I/c (HR); S N Jha, GM (HR); V K Srivastava, GM(TS); Gurumoorthy, GM(F); D Sutradhar, GM(Project) members of Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Employees with their family members, CISF Personnel and residents of neighbouring areas.
Power Finance Corporation
Power Finance Corporation (PFC), in collaboration with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), organised a Yoga Camp at F Block, Connaught Place, New Delhi. Employees of the Corporation turned up in large numbers to attend this Yoga session.
Punjab National bank
International day of Yoga was celebrated by Punjab National bank as its Central Staff College, Delhi and all other training centres and administrative offices throughout the country. Sanjiv Sharan, executive director of the bank participated in the celebration held at Central Staff College, Delhi along with other senior executives and employees.
Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited
To mark International Yoga day, a mass yoga programme was organised at Bharathi Stadium, wherein 1,000 school children performed various asanaas. On this occasion, functional directors of NLC India Limited— Rakesh Kumar, Subir Das, Selvakumar, Vikraman, and Yogamaya Acharya, Kanchan Kamra and Sudeshna Das and other senior officers participated in the function and performed various asanas. Kumar, director/finance, who was the chief guest of this function.
Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore
Over 10,000 people including school children, women, members of paramilitary forces, officers from BSF and a large number of people gathered to participate in the third International Day of Yoga Celebrations in presence of the 112 ft face of Adiyogi- the source of Yoga at Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore. Governor of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra C Vidyasagar Rao was the chief guest and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Mahesh Sharma was the guest of honour at the celebrations.
Border Security Force
Approximately 40,000 personnel of force along with their families participated in Yog Kriya on International Yoga Day. Respective establishment on frontiers have conducted Yoga sessions for Prahari Pariwar and also for the population living along BSF establishments.
Central Bank of India
Central Bank of India organised yoga program for its staff members with the help of Isha Foundation. In this program good number of employees participated. Addressing the staff members on the occasion, K K Taneja field general manager underlined the importance of yoga in Life and said that the whole world is doing yoga and it is a proud moment for the country.
NTPC Korba
Several programmes were held here at Korba plant and township to mark the third International Yoga Day. Children, families participated in large numbers in yoga sessions held at DPS, KV, Saraswati Shishu Mandir and Bal Bhawan. The weeklong yoga shivir was conducted under the aegis of Pragati Club. N K Sinha, GGM; C Dakshinamurthy, GM (TS); Dipankar Bose, GM (O&M); D N Tiwari, GM (maintenance); Basuraj Goswami, GM (Fuel Management); C B Mahajan, AGM I/c (C&M); B K Garg, AGM I/c (Finance); S S Das, AGM (HR), HODs, employees and representatives of unions/associations were present.
NTPC, Kudgi
Sanjeev Kishore, group general manager led the employees and families in a performing various Yog-asnas. This was done under the guidance of Kashinath Awathi, president Pathanjali Yoga Samithi, Basavanbagewadi, and Sheela Awati, president, Women Yoga Samithi, Basavanbagewadi. Training was given in Yog-asnas, and meditation practice exercises. Dwarakaram Choudhary (Yogacharya) and Deepa Angadi (Yogacharya) delivered a lecture on the importance of Yoga and the accrued benefits in daily life.
Employees’ State Insurance Corporation
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), celebrated 3rd International Yoga Day in all its offices and hospitals throughout India with the sole theme ‘Yoga-For Harmony and Peace’. On this occasion, M Sathiyavathy, secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, chief guest of the function presented the prizes to winners of yoga competition. This function was also attended by Deepak Kumar, DG, ESIC; Rajeev Arora, joint secretary, MOL&E; Sandhya Shukla, financial commissioner; Vaidya Devendra Triguna, Member, ESIC; S L Vig, medical commissioner (AYUSH); P L Chaudhary, medical commissioner (medical education); A K Sinha, insurance commissioner; V V Prasad, ex-advisor (AYUSH) and others.
