MHADA plans to scrap deposit payments by demand drafts

- STAFF REPORTER

Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is now planning to scrap deposit payments through demand drafts and promote online payment for this year’s housing lottery. A senior official said last year the authority witnessed an increase in the number of online payments.

The official said, “We are glad that most of the applicants are opting for online payment as it becomes easier for us to gather all application details with the payment. With the offline mode, the process of registration becomes a bit lengthy.” The authority will also promote online payment mode for the lottery.

Last year, around 60% payments were made through online whereas 40% payments were made through demand drafts. The authority is yet to decide the lottery dates for this year which has been delayed due to the roll out Real Estate Regulatory Authority Act.

According to RERA act, every project that lacks occupation certificate should be registered on its website. This is the first time MHADA has delayed the lottery dates which were supposed to be held on May 31.
