Call centre opened for complaints related to state transport buses

- STAFF REPORTER

The management of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has planned to set up a call centre to register complaints by commuters related to state buses and give them feedback. The state transport department management has tied up with a private firm who would bring the staffers and logistics in place to operate this centre.

This call centre is set to launch in August and it is an initiative taken by the State Transport Minister Diwakar Raote. Once set up, commuters can call up on the helpline number 1800221250 to register any complaints related to the functioning of the state transport buses.

“Commuters can ask queries related to bus timings, routes and reservation of the buses by calling up on the helpline number. The commuters can also ask queries related to timetable of the buses by sending text messages on the number,” said an MSRTC official.

MSRTC will provide Rs 1 crore as funds to the private firm to set up the call centre. The centre will consist of at least 20 staffers who will register each complaint on their personal computers and give personal feedback to the commuters.

MSRTC had set up a helpline number in 2010 which did not receive a good feedback from users. “As the earlier set up consisted of less number of staffers, it was difficult for them to monitor each complaint. Hence, a new set up was needed for the benefit of passengers,” the official said.
