I AM A HYPOCRITE, MY FATHER IS NOT, SAYS RANBIR KAPOOR

Ranbir Kapoor has always been reserved when it comes to talking about social issues in public, whereas his father Rishi Kapoor has always been very vocal about his thoughts especially on Twitter. But Ranbir has never requested his father reduce his social media outrage but rather wife Neetu Kapoor takes charge of that. “My mother takes care of his aggression on social media. There are constant fights and conflicts at home because of it. My father is a very honest and considers himself a citizen of this country. If he has an opinion about anything he will say it, he is not a hypocrite. Like you feel for an issue so does he, he says it because he feels the need to say it. I am a hypocrite I don't think I can do that,” says Ranbir. Talking more about his dislike of social media the actor adds, “Social media is addictive and takes up a lot of your time. I am not voyeuristic in that way that I need to keep track. I just have one social media account on Instagram, which is just to follow people I admire, but if I start posting then it becomes a media conference of my life. It is too much of a responsibility and I am happy to lead a simple life.”

The Ae Dil hai Mushkil actor has always been very grateful about the support he has received from the film industry even after a flop debut. “Inspite of so many ups and downs in my career, the film industry has always supported me. I still get opportunity to work with filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani, Karan Johar and Ayan Mukherji, and if they are casting me then you do feel a sense of belonging,” says Ranbir.

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was in news for rudely dismissing the media when asked to comment on issues of national importance. Ranbir feels it is not right to force a public personality to comment on if they don’t want to. “I think just because I am an actor doesn’t mean I am answerable. If I have a view I should give you a view. If I don’t have the knowledge about it then saying something controversial just for the sake of it doesn’t make sense. Just because I am on a platform where you are allowed to ask me questions that doesn’t mean that I am obliged to answer. It is my life I will express something if I believe in it and not express if I don’t know about it,” he said.
