Uddhav targets Ajit Pawar for calling Sena an earthworm

-

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray lashed out at NCP leader Ajit Pawar for calling the Sena an earthworm. Thackeray added that Pawar is facing charges of corruption and hence is unable to take a stand against the ruling BJP on the farmers’ loan-waiver issue.

Thackeray was on a twoday tour of North Maharashtra region. He met farmers and addressed rallies at Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar on Wednesday. Pawar, former deputy chief minister, had said the Sena is like an earthworm which has two mouths. He wanted to say that the Sena took different stands within the government and the outside government.

Thackeray said, “Yes, the Sena is like an earthworm which is known as the friend of farmers. However, Pawar is a two-faced person who does not speak against the BJP despite being the leader of the opposition party.” He added that Pawar does not have any issue to target the BJP and the Sena with. Thackeray also recalled the controversial statement of Pawar about how to pour water in dry dam in Solapur district.

Thackeray added, “During poll campaign, we promised the farmers to resolve their issues if elected. Now, if we take stand in favour of farmers despite being an ally of the BJP-led government, it does not mean the Sena is playing the role of an opposition party. We are fulfilling the poll promise, unlike the other party.”

Thackeray also targeted Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, the leader of the opposition. Vikhe-Patil had said that BJP government is like a home for him. Thackeray said, “How can he feel at home with this government when he is the opposition party leader and his job is to corner the government on its failure on certain issues?”

Shiv Sainiks will meet farmers in every tehsil and village to confirm that his/her property card for agricultural land (7/12) has really been recorded as debt-free. The sainiks will keep record of each farmer and confirm that all 89 lakh farmers get benefit of the loan-waiver scheme.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced that the number of beneficiaries will be 89 lakh. Thackeray also demanded that outstanding crop loan till 2017-end be covered and not just till June 30, 2016.
