One arrested for Reliance Jio data leak
The cyber cell of Maharashtra police and Navi Mumbai police arrested one person on Wednesday for the leakage of data of Reliance Jio users.
Accused Imran Champa was arrested under the Information Technology Act. An FIR was registered with Navi Mumbai police on Monday. Maharashtra cyber team got a lead after carrying out thorough analysis of incidence.
Champa is an engineering student and hails from Sujangarh town in Churu district. According to the FIR, “The entire SIM data such as customers’ name, mobile number, email address, date of activation was leaked on the website magicapk.com.”
Under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Maharashtra cyber and Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai police along with Rajasthan police arrested the main accused from Rajasthan. The team of Maharashtra cyber crime, Navi Mumbai police and officials of Reliance Jio visited Rajasthan to conduct search and seizure operation with the help of Rajasthan police.
According to Balsingh Rajput, Superintendent of Police(cyber), Maharashtra, “We zeroed in on the accused Champa and started obtaining information about the Internet Protocol addresses used by him. We traced the IP address that was used to leak the data. Champa was picked up from Churu district of Rajasthan. The operation was carried out in collaboration with Navi Mumbai police and Rajasthan police. The Quick Heal team is also providing technical help in the investigation.”
