Being focussed On Your Goals

- — T.G.L. Iyer

CHUCK GALLOZZI once wrote: “We have an innate desire to endlessly learn, grow and develop. We want to become more than what we already are. Once we yield to this inclination for continuous and never-ending improvement, we lead a life of limitless accomplishment and satisfaction. Do something right and move on to the next right thing.” We are all unique human beings having infinite opportunity available and the power to do something and accomplish. When we all look to others for directions in what we personally want to become, we unknowingly abandon one of our talents i.e. the ability to advance forward, reach a goal and accomplish what we can. If we live our lives as we want and not how others want, we have already started on our natural journey towards growth and development.

Kahlil Gibran, the Lebanese poet, philosopher and writer said that if you have a thread attached to an arrow, it will never go its full distance; if you pull the reins of a racing horse, you will never win the race; if you drive the car with the brakes on, you will never gather speed or reach anywhere.” Since you are born to grow and succeed you should not have negative thoughts and end up in failure.

The habit of responding to the inner desire to make a difference, to make it happen, to extend your area of influence, all begins with a positive mindset, attitude or choice to move forward than stand still. Many people think: “I am a victim, I have tried everything; there is nothing more I can do; I am stuck in a groove; God is unkind; circumstances are adverse, etc.” Victim syndrome gives your future away. The truth is that if there is a problem, there is a solution too.

Of all the things successful people do to accelerate their trip down the path of success is to have a coach, guide or a wise well-wisher, who can show the future path to travel. A guide helps in clarifying goals, keeping you focussed, confront odd and old patterns, inspire you to do the best, help to live by your values and above all help to identify your genius. Coaches have one thing in common, it is that they are ruthlessly result-oriented.
