Aamir Khan and wife Kiran down with swine flu
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao have been diagnosed with swine flu, and both of them are being treated at their Bandra residence.
On Sunday, Aamir was supposed to attend a function of their NGO Paani Foundation in Pune, but couldn’t make it. Instead, the 52-year-old actor informed the organisers through video conferencing that he and his wife Kiran were down with swine flu.
A member of Aamir’s team said that the actor and his wife were stable, but wouldn’t attend any functions for the next one week.
Sunday happened to be the annual prize distribution day of Paani Foundation, an event that Aamir always attended. Superstar Sharukh Khan filled in on Aamir’s behalf. Talking about it, Aamir said, “Since today is friendship day, I requested my friend Shahrukh to attend the function on my behalf and he readily accepted.” The Lagaan actor congratulated all the villages, who took part in ‘Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2017’.
Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadanvis, Reliance Foundation founder Neeta Ambani and industrialist Rajiv Bajaj were also present.
Swine flu is sweeping through many parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai. In July alone, at least 7 deaths have been reported from the city. Over 400 people have been infected so far throughout the state and the government is desperately trying to control its spread through awareness programmes and better treatment.
