KANGANA CLEARS THE AIR AROUND ALL THE CONTROVERSIES

Kangana Ranaut dismisses controversies that have haunted her these past few months

-

Outspoken actress Kangana Ranaut has finally cleared the air around all the controversies surrounding her and her new film Simran. She started with dispelling the rumours of her writing the story and dialogues for Simran. “There are some films that are character-driven, which help actors to work in a more organic way. So that is why I told Hansal (Mehta) that I will write my own lines,” says Kangana. The controversy erupted after the poster of the film released showing Kangana’s name as cowriter. Scriptwriter Apurva Asrani then took to Facebook to raise objection to it and slammed the actress for taking undue credit. “There are no dues pending. There are a lot of misconceptions that Apoorva has not been given his due, but we have done exactly what he asked for. He is the one who suggested that I take credit for the additional dialogue. Post that we worked together to finish the schedule, and then after many months he decided to write this letter after Rangoon flopped and two or three people attacked me. This was in a very bad taste, planned and deliberate. There is nothing we can do now. He has got all the credit he wanted,” she added.

The actress then moved on to speak about her journey in Bollywood and added that it has been her destiny to fight hard for everything in life. “My journey has been very different from others. I have always had to fight for everything that I ever wanted. Now my life is such and I have made peace with it. There is nothing wrong in being a ladaku. But I will take what I deserve either by fighting or any other way,” the Queen actress asserted.

The 31-year-old actress also admitted that she does tend to hurt egos unintentionally. “Hansal had offered me other films before but it didn’t work out. When we did this film he told me about his previous offers, but I didn’t remember. I may have hurt his ego, somehow I always tend to hurt egos,” says Kangana.

In Simran, the 31-year-old plays the role of Praful Patel, a divorcee Gujarati woman who lives in New York. She is kleptomaniac and a gambler who likes to flirt with guys as she proudly says that to woo a man is “not a character flaw, but an art”.

Talking about the preparation she did to play the character, Kangana says, “I have never been a part of a Gujarati family. I have zero understanding of their lifestyle and that is how the journey started. Started getting acclimate to the culture and also Praful is a NRI girl so she didn’t have a very different accent. It is just the story of life, family and mistakes.”

Kangana also reminisced about her connection to the name Simran. “Have a nostalgia to the Simran name. It has been a long journey. When Anurag Basu casted me (in Gangster) it was a tragedy love story and now this is a coming of age movie, so it feels like life has come in a full circle,” she adds.
