Deadline for admission to PG courses extended
Students aspiring to pursue higher education can apply for post-graduate (PG) courses as application dates have been postponed till August 31. This move has come due to the prolonged delay in declaration of Mumbai University (MU) results.
A circular issued by the MU stated that all departments, universities, institutions and colleges affiliated with it should accept admission forms for all PG programs up to August 31, 2017. The PG courses included MA, MCom, MSc and others.
The university declared results of BSc, BA and is focussing on declaring major BCom results soon. This is the third deadline and the university aims to provide admission to every student. A senior official of the MU said, “We will accept admissions till every student gets his or her result. The merit rounds will not be conducted till all results are out.”
Last Friday, the Governor stated that for admission to MBA, MMS, MCA, Master in Hotel Management & Catering Technology the cut-off date for submission of marksheets has been extended till August 24. While for admission to Master of Engineering/ MTech, MPharm, MArch, the cutoff date has been extended till August 31. It was directed that as far as possible, the cut-off date should be suitably extended to facilitate students of MU.
For students who want to take admission in other state universities, it was directed that the Higher and Technical Education Department will issue suitable notification to all other universities in the state to admit candidates provisionally, based on a copy of online result, if the result is declared and marksheet is not issued.
The universities in the state are also directed to postpone dates of registration or allocate over and above quota to accommodate MU students.
