BJP, Sena lock horns in BMC’s general body meeting
Once again the Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) locked horns over the distribution of garbage dustbins in the weekly General Body Meeting held on Monday. The BJP corporator, Anjali Khedekar, alleged that Sena corporator Sandhya Doshi had not distributed 5,500 dustbins meant for people and kept those bins in a godown (warehouse).
Both the saffron parties slammed each other in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) auditorium premises and the BJP shouted slogans in Marathi, 'Dabba Chor (dustbin chor)' against Sena.
BJP leaders also meanwhile raised slogans saying ‘Modi Modi’ while Sena replied BJP with 'chor hai, chor hai' slogans. Meanwhile, Sena corporator Doshi defended their (BJP allegation) move and gave clarification in BMC that from corporators’ fund she got 500 garbage dustbins. From which 450 dustbins were distributed and only 50 are yet to be distributed.
BJP continued shouting slogans against Sena and the chaos continued for 10 minutes. BJP corporator Khedekar demanded an inquiry against Sena corporator and Borivali ward Assistant Municipal Commissioner (AMC), but Sena pulled up the BJP and a scuffle took place between Kishori Pendekar (Sena corporator) and Anjali Khedekar (BJP).
However, Mumbai Mayor Vishwanth Mahadeshwar turned down the allegations made and rejected the point of objection raised by the BJP corporator.
