Mowgli to entertain visitors at Moti Baug

-

Taking a leaf from ‘Jungle Book’, the Moti Baug Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal has decided to have Mowgli theme to enthral visitors. The organisers also have a social message that there should be no reservation system in education and no outsourcing of talent. The Khetwadicha 21 Mukhi idol has been made of fibre. The props of animals, a tiger and place below the idol are made of cloth. Decoration for grass and trees is made of paper.

Vishal Mindhe (38), president of the mandal established since 1979, said, “Sherkhan had certain rules and regulations which had to be agreed to in his kingdom. Through the display, we want to tell the people that just as the big animals get more share and the smaller and weaker ones are left empty-handed, similar is the plight of the reservation system in Indian education system. Also, talents should not be outsourced.”

Surprisingly, although the idol will be taken for shubh yatra to Girgaon Chowpatty, it will not be immersed. There will be a 7-minute show on Jungle Book to entertain the kids. A fight between Sherkhan and Mowgli will be shown and a prop of Mowgli tied with a rope will be brought down where Mowgli will greet scores of people. A bear will be seen jumping and dancing with a tiger roaring to entertain the crowd.

“The same 21 mukhi idol was used in the movie Sarkar 3. The Ganpati Paramparik Maha Arti composed by the mandal was also played in it. We will take the idol to the sea, splash water on feet of the Lord and then bring it back to the mandal,” added Mindhe.
