MU to start first slot of re-evaluation, final date of application is August 20

- RONALD RODRIGUES

After results, students are now approaching the Mumbai University (MU) for the revaluation of their marksheets.

Students who have received their results before August 20 have to apply for this process by August 30. This is the first slot of the re-evaluation process and students need to go through their respective colleges and then approach the MU.

The re-evaluation process is for those students who are not satisfied with the marks that they have secured according to their marksheets. It also includes students who have failed, marked incorrectly or have been marked absent. The answer sheets of these students who apply will be rechecked and a new marksheet will be produced.

The students need to submit

a photocopy of their marksheet to their respective college and pay the reevaluation fee (Rs 250). The college then needs to submit the re-evaluation application form, photocopy of marksheet and the soft copy of the answer sheet of the student to the MU. This process should be done before 2:30 pm on August 30.

The MU will then prepare a list of the re-evaluation applications in respective courses and send the answer scripts for rechecking.

Arjun Ghatule, new acting head of examination of the MU, said, “We will allot these answer scripts to the examiners of that particular course apart from the examiner who has already evaluated the answer script. Since we will send it out to multiple examiners we hope that the paper correction will be done soon.”

After this correction, the new marks of the student will be calculated and a new marksheet will be prepared. In the past, the university has been normally taking more than three months to produce the re-evaluation result. Some students have not received their re-evaluation result event after six months.

But this time, the university aims to complete this process in a matter of 30 days from the date of application for revaluation.

The re-evaluation process is most feared by students following this year’s delay. Recently, 38 students from St Andrew’s College opted for re-evaluation as they were marked absent and their results stated ‘Result Reserve.’

Marie Fernandes, Principal of the college, said, “We immediately sent these students to the MU and the university has assured that they will check the results of these students. All of them are bright students and were present for the examination.”
