57 plaints on RERA website
FOR BUYERS Complaints can be registered after paying Rs 5,000
Nearly a month after the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) started a complaint window on its website, 57 complaints have been registered against developers across the state. A senior official said that majority of the complaints have been registered against realty projects in Pune.
The complaint window allows residents of registered projects to notify their complaints to the authority after a payment of Rs 5000, whereas, the authority accepted complaints for free of unregistered projects till July 31.
A RERA official said that once the complaint details of projects have been registered, the authority will take up a suo moto case.
He said, “The complaint results can lead to termination of the registered projects. Also, fines can be levied till five per cent of the entire project costs after which punitive action will be taken against the developers.”
Meanwhile, 12,750 applications for project registration have been received by MahaRERA from developers across the state.
A senior RERA official said, “Out of these, we have issued registration certificates to 10,500 projects. The officials are directed to verify all the details submitted by the developer. The process will take some more time.”
The projects will be approved by authorities which will involve verifying the facts of the project details provided by the developer.
In addition to this, more than 2,000 developers are fined for developers who have registered their projects post RERA deadline.
