Nine killed in bus, truck accident near Narayangaon
In a horrible accident, nine people including seven passengers of state transport bus died on the spot when the bus they were travelling in rammed into a truck parked on a road near Narayangaon near Pune at 1.30 am on Monday.
The state transport bus was coming to Pune from Nashik when it met with an accident.
The deceased have been identified as Kishor Yashwant Jondhale, 40 years old from Sangamner, Zakir Rashid Gulab Pathan, 30 years old from Sangamner, Shobha Nadu Pagar, 45 years old from Nashik, Sagar Krishna Choudhari from Chalisgoan, Abhijit Joshi, 23 years old from Pune, Sanjavani Suryakant Ghadage, 45 years old from Nashik, Yamuna Pagar, 40 years old from Nashik, Vikas Gujrati, 30 years old from Pune, and Sanket Misri, 35 years old from Pune.
Ajay Gorad, API, Narayangao, said, “a punctured truck was parked at roadside on Nashik Pune Highway. Driver and helper of the truck were trying to fix tyre on the road during night hours in rain. Bus driver who was driving in high speed could not see truck on the road and rammed the bus into the truck.”
He added, “Tryambkeshar Pune bus (MH14BT4351) left Tryambkeshwar at 10 pm on Sunday. The bus hit the truck at around 1.30 am near Muktai Dhaba at Narayangoan. Seven passengers of the ST Bus and driver and helper of the truck died on the spot. 14 people got injured. The remaining passengers who were not injured left the accident spot immediately. We are trying to find them to find out what happened exactly. Bus is damaged badly with one left front side completely broken.”
He added, “Fourteen more got injured. The bus driver despite getting injured made sure to call the police station to inform about the accident. We immediately reached the spot to see many people died on the spot. We immediately shifted all injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. We are in process to take statements of passengers and then we will lodge the complaint.”
