Site to open new window to view plaint details

- STAFF REPORTER

Public complaints and judgement details pertaining to realty projects registered on the Real Estate Regulatory Act (RERA) website will soon be open for public view.

The authority has decided to open a new window where registered complaints will be displayed on the website along with the case details.

Till date, there are nearly 80 complaints registered on the website. Currently, visitors on the website have no access to details about the registered complaints; however, the authority cited that giving out details of other complaints and orders can prove as a reference point for future cases.

“It is necessary to provide such details on the website in order to educate other complainants about realty projects and RERA. We are working on it and the new window will soon be available,” a senior official said.

The complaint window allows residents of registered projects to notify their complaints to the authority after a payment of Rs 5000, whereas, the authority accepted complaints for free of unregistered projects till July 31.

RERA official said they are also planning to introduce a search box where details can be accessed through its case numbers.

“The complaint results can lead to termination of the registered projects. Also, fines can be levied till five percent of the entire project costs after which punitive action will be taken against the developers,” the official added.
